Catherine Large is a contemporary jeweller and metalsmith based in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
Making original jewellery, objects and flatware in precious metal, she draws on her experiences of travel and the nature of ‘stuff’ both inherited and collected, to inform her work.
She works with predominantly recycled and reused materials, mindful of the origin of new materials and prefering to use objects and materials that have had a former life.
Catherine has been the recipient of a number of grants, both individually and as part of MAD Ethos (Marketing Australian Design Ethos), and has held solo exhibitions as well as participating regularly in group exhibitions.
Her work is held in both public and private collections.
She is employed in the Fine Art Department at Queensland College of Art, Griffith University, lecturing in Jewellery and Small Objects. Catherine is also Treasurer of the Jewellers and Metalsmiths Group of Queensland JMGQ.
Catherine's work is available at Studio Ingot, Fitzroy, Melbourne.
